OUR ORIGINS

A story four generations in the making

Our Maestro Mezcalero, José Valente Pérez Rodríguez, hails from the foothills of La Mesa in the town of Charo, Michoacán. He describes Mezcal as the liquid culture of his ancestors - of his great-grandparents, his grandfather, his fater... and now, it is he who transforms it all into a drink  meant to be shared and enjoyed. Above all, it's his way of honoring Mexico's cultural heritage and sharing it whit the world.

OUR ORIGINS

To the skilled hands that have devoted  their lives  to the land, to  transforming  raw matter throug the elements - to every lesson and piece of wisdom  passed  down  through generations

but it pays tribute to everything that came before

Don José Valente Pérez represents the fourth generation of a family devoted to the art of Michoacán Mezcal. His story is one of passion, commitment, and unwavering dedication to preserving the quality of Mezcal in this region - following in the footsteps of his father, who was recognized in 2015 as a Cultural Treasure of Mezcal.

Maestro Valente has been awarded multiple times for the excellence of his mezcals and is a proud member of the Union of Master Mezcaleros of the State of Michoacán — honors that reflect his dedication to artisanal mezcal and the preservation of our traditions.

This is a journey toward new horizons, new experiences, and new lessons.
A path where Montanares will continue to preserve and honor the legacy of

those who can before, those who are here now, and those yet to come.

This is the beginning. Our beginning.
